Regular Season Round 9: CTO - Gorizont 72-67

There was a minor upset in Amsterdam where 10th ranked Belarusian Gorizont (2-5) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Dutch CTO (2-5) 72-67 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-67. Strangely Gorizont outrebounded CTO 53-40 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when CTO made 7 blocks. Center Richelle Van Der Keijl (196-93, college: N.Mexico) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and forward Lisanne de Jonge (180-95, college: St.Joseph's) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four CTO players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Russian guard Evgeniia Korotygina (180-93) with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian power forward Bojana Stevanovic (180-96, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. CTO moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Gorizont and Astana Tigers. Gorizont lost their fifth game in a row.
