Regular Season Round 21: Vilpas - Kouvot 106-72

Korisliiga top team - Vilpas (19-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Kouvot (9-9) in Salo 106-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Kouvot. They outrebounded Kouvot 45-22 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vilpas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Brandon Taylor (201-94, college: Penn St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side and forward Jamie Skeen (203-88, college: VCU) accounted for 21 points and 5 rebounds. Guard EC Matthews (196-95, college: Rhode Island) came up with 13 points and Brian Asbury (201-86, college: Miami, FL) added 12 points respectively for Kouvot in the defeat. Five Vilpas and four Kouvot players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vilpas have an impressive series of seventeen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-3 record. Kouvot at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Vilpas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kouvot will play on the road against KTP-Basket (#3) in Kotka and hopes to get back on the winning track.
