Not a big story in a game in Sichuan where 18th ranked Blue Whales (7-22) were defeated by eleventh ranked Golden Stars (14-16) 104-90 on Wednesday. Golden Stars looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90) fired a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: N.Carolina) chipped in 30 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Golden Stars players scored in double figures. American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and the other American import power forward Jason Thompson (211-86, college: Rider) added 17 points and 15 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Golden Stars moved-up to tenth place. Blue Whales lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the eighteenth position with 22 games lost. Golden Stars will face higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#5) in Urumqi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blue Whales will play at home against Jilin Tigers (#11) and hope to win that game.
