Ninth-ranked Valur (4-9) made lots of trouble for second ranked Tindastoll (11-2) in Sauoarkrokur on Thursday. Tindastoll managed to secure only three-point victory 97-94. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Valur. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 3 points. Tindastoll forced 19 Valur turnovers. International forward Danero Thomas (200-86, college: Murray St.) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Brynjar Bjornsson (188-88, college: Francis Marion) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Bulgarian forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and American point guard Dominique Rambo (183-91, college: SAGU) added 14 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Four Tindastoll and five Valur players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tindastoll maintains second place with 11-2 record behind leader Njardvik. Valur at the other side keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Haukar. Tindastoll are looking forward to face Haukar (#10) in Hafnarfjordur in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valur will play at home against the league's leader Njardvik and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
