Regular Season Round 22: KTP Basket - Kouvot 95-87

There was no surprise in Kotka where 6th ranked Kouvot (9-10) was defeated by third ranked KTP-Basket (13-8) 95-87 on Friday. Kouvot was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 31-21 charge of KTP-Basket, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. KTP-Basket outrebounded Kouvot 36-25 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Donte Thomas (200-96, college: Bradley) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Forward Tyrell Nelson (201-95, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Brian Asbury (201-86, college: Miami, FL) produced 27 points and 9 rebounds and guard David Gonzalvez (193-87, college: Richmond) added 17 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. KTP-Basket moved-up to second place. Kouvot at the other side dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Seagulls. KTP-Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kouvot will play at home against Helsinki Seagulls (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
