Regular Season Round 13: Vichy Clermont - Quimper 93-71
Date: January 11, 2019
Very predictable result when fifth ranked JA Vichy (9-4) rolled over at home 14th ranked Quimper UJAP (4-8) 93-71 on Friday. JA Vichy forced 21 Quimper UJAP turnovers and outrebounded them 38-22 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. JA Vichy looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. It was a very good performance for American guard Andell Cumberbatch (198-93, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import point guard Quinton Hooker (183-95, college: N.Dakota) contributed with 19 points, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Angolan center Valdelicio Joaquim (208-90, college: Hawaii, agency: Duran International) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Maxime Choplin (180-92) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Quimper UJAP. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JA Vichy moved-up to second place, which they share with Orleans and Saint-Chamond. Loser Quimper UJAP dropped to the fifteenth position with eight games lost. JA Vichy will face ALM Evreux (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Quimper UJAP will play against Caen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
