Regular Season Round 16: Marbella - Martos 70-59

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Marbella (12-1) defeated at home 9th ranked Martos (2-10) 70-59 on Saturday. Marbella forced 19 Martos turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Martos' players. Quite impressive performance for American swingman Charles Knowles (196-93, college: William Penn) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 rebounds. Senegalese power forward Pape Sow (205-93) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Marbella's coach Francis Tome allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. David Melero (-91) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Sergio Melero (-95) added 17 points in the effort for Martos. Marbella have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group D-A with 12-1 record. Newly promoted Martos keeps the ninth place with ten games lost. Marbella will face bottom-ranked Unicaja-Andalucia (#10) in Malaga in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Martos will play at home against Almeria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
