Regular Season Round 16: Polonia Bytom - AZS UJK Kielce 97-64

Very important is a road loss of third ranked AZS UJK Kielce (11-5) against fourth ranked Polonia Bytom (12-4) on Saturday night. Visiting AZS UJK Kielce was crushed by Polonia Bytom in Bytom 97-64. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of AZS UJK Kielce. It was a key game for the second position in Group C. Polonia Bytom dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to AZS UJK Kielce's 38. Polonia Bytom forced 24 AZS UJK Kielce turnovers and outrebounded them 42-30 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Polonia Bytom players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by AZS UJK Kielce's players. The winners were led by guard Krzysztof Kurdubski (199-87) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Krzysztof Wasowicz (183-94) supported him with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Polonia Bytom players scored in double figures. Polonia Bytom's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 17 points by guard Mateusz Druszcz (184-97) did not help to save the game for AZS UJK Kielce. Center Maciej Szewczyk (197-94) added 11 points and 4 assists for lost side. Polonia Bytom moved-up to second place in Group C, which they share with Wisla Krakow. AZS UJK Kielce at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Polonia Bytom will play against MKS DG 2 (#14) in Dabrowa Gornicza in the next round which should be another easy win for them. AZS UJK Kielce will play on the road against MCKiS Jaworz. (#6) in Jaworzno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
