We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Empoli where 10th ranked Gessi Valsesia (7-9) was edged by eleventh ranked USE Basket (7-8) 71-69 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Fabio Stefanini (197-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and forward Gabriele Giarelli (200-93, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 8 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four USE Basket players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Mirko Gloria (203-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and guard Stefano Cernivani (185-91) scored 22 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. USE Basket moved-up to tenth place in B. Loser Gessi Valsesia dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. USE Basket will face higher ranked Varese Robur (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gessi Valsesia will play against Cecina and hope to win that game.
