Very predictable result when third ranked Groningen (13-4) smashed at home bottom-ranked BA Limburg (3-16) 101-67. The game without a history. Groningen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Groningen outrebounded BA Limburg 36-21 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Groningen players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by BA Limburg helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for international Rienk Mast (203-1) who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots). The former international center Thomas Koenis (211-89, agency: Court Side) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Elay Wirjo (196-98) replied with 13 points and 5 assists and Serbian guard Ivan Simic (185-97, college: NW Kansas Tech) added 15 points in the effort for BA Limburg. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third position with 13-4 record having just two points less than leader Zwolle. BA Limburg lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 16 games lost. Groningen's next round opponent will be Leeuwarden (#7) on the road. BA Limburg will play against Amsterdam and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
