There was no surprise in Helsinki where 10th ranked Torpan Pojat (4-13) was defeated by seventh ranked ViVe (7-10) 73-61 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. ViVe made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Torpan Pojat turnovers. American forward Alisia Jenkins (186-94, college: S.Florida) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 20 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import swingman Amy Griffin (183-96, college: La Salle, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 17 points and 11 rebounds. ViVe's coach Jarkko Havu used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Ashli Payne (183-95, college: E.Washington, agency: Gamble Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Hanna Valkeinen (170-87) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Four Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. ViVe maintains seventh place with 7-10 record. Newly promoted Torpan Pojat stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. ViVe will meet higher ranked Espoo Team (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Torpan Pojat will play against the league's second-placed Peli-Karhut (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
