Regular Season Round 13: Kastoria - Apollon Patras 68-65

Fourteenth-ranked Apollon Patras (4-9) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Kastoria (8-5) on Saturday. Kastoria managed to secure only three-point victory 68-65. However their fans expected much easier game. Center Petros Melissaratos (205-93) nailed 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and naturalized Australian guard Triantafillos Tzakopoulos (185-85) accounted for 9 points and 6 assists. Point guard Evangelos Bebis (198-95, college: Iona) came up with 15 points and 4 assists and swingman Giannis Molfetas (194-92) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Apollon Patras in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Kastoria moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ippokratis. Apollon Patras at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Kastoria will meet at home higher ranked Ermis Agias (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Apollon Patras will play against Evropi (#11) and hope to secure a win.
