Regular Season Round 16: Mondragon - Gallofa 66-79

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Gallofa (8-4) beat on the road one of their biggest challengers Mondragon (8-4) 79-66 on Sunday. It was a very good performance for swingman Jaime Garcia (194-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Bosnian Sandro Gacic (201-96) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Gallofa players scored in double figures. American center Zach Kirschbaum (208-93, college: Trinity Intern.) replied with 9 points and 11 rebounds and Simion Mancebo (200-94) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Mondragon. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gallofa moved-up to fourth place in Group A-A, which they share with defeated Mondragon. Gallofa will face league's leader Univ.Burgos at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Mondragon will play against Miraflores in Burgos and hope to win that game.
