Regular Season Round 16: Omnia Basket - Vigevano 85-75

There was a surprise result in Pavia where thirteenth ranked Omnia Basket (7-9) won against higher ranked Vigevano (9-7) 85-75 on Sunday. Omnia Basket made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Giulio Mascherpa (185-92, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and center Andrea Iannilli (207-84) who added 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Omnia Basket's coach Massimiliano Baldiraghi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Daniele-Mario Benzoni (195-80) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and center Lorenzo Petrosino (202-92) scored 19 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Omnia Basket moved-up to eleventh place in B. Newly promoted Vigevano dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Omnia Basket will face higher ranked LTC Sangiorg. (#8) in San Giorgio in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Vigevano will play at home against Montecatiniterme and hope to win that game.
