There was an upset when higher ranked LTC Sangiorg. (9-7) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Montecatiniterme (7-9) 84-74 on Sunday. Montecatiniterme dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to LTC Sangiorg.'s 32. They outrebounded LTC Sangiorg. 42-30 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Samuele Moretti (197-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and naturalized Argentinian swingman Franco Migliori (200-82) who added 23 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Montecatiniterme players scored in double figures. Montecatiniterme's coach Alberto Tonfoni used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Salvatore Parlato (196-86) responded with 32 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Eugenio Rota (174-99, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 14 points and 6 assists. Montecatiniterme moved-up to thirteenth place in B. Loser LTC Sangiorg. dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Montecatiniterme will face higher ranked Vigevano (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
