Regular Season Round 13: Kings - Hawks 84-96

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Kings (13-7) in Sydney on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Illawarra Hawks (9-11) 96-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kings. Illawarra Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Kings' 40. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Emmett Naar (185-94, college: St.Mary's, CA) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American forward Brian Conklin (201-89, college: St.Louis) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Ukrainian-American point guard Jerome Randle (175-87, college: California) answered with 22 points and the former international center Andrew Bogut (213-84, college: Utah) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Kings. Four Kings players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Illawarra Hawks moved-up to sixth place. Kings at the other side still keep top position with seven games lost. Illawarra Hawks are looking forward to face New Zealand Breakers (#7) in Auckland in the next round. Kings will play at home against Adelaide 36ers (#5) and are hoping to win this game.
