Regular Season Round 12: Mondeville - Villeneuve 56-67

Date: January 13, 2019
Bottom-ranked Mondeville (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 67-56 loss to sixth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (6-6) in Mondeville. The winners were led by the former international Johanne Gomis-Halilovic (179-85) who scored that evening 20 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Christelle Diallo (193-93) supported her with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds by Canadian swingman Kimberley Gaucher-Smith (183-84, college: Utah) did not help to save the game for Mondeville. American forward Kristen Mann (186-83, college: UCSB) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Mondeville's coach Romain Lhermitte tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Villeneuve D'Ascq moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Flammes and Roche. Mondeville at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq's next round opponent will be Nantes Reze (#11) at home where they are favorite. Mondeville will play against Hainaut in Saint-Amand and hopes to get finally their first victory.
