Regular Season Round 9: Esperides - Sporting 60-58

Ninth-ranked Sporting (3-6) gave a tough game to second ranked Esperides (7-2) in Glyfada on Sunday. Esperides managed to secure only two-point victory 60-58. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sporting. Point guard Zoi Kechagia (173-79) stepped up and scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American-Mexican forward Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-93, college: Charleston) chipped in 6 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Ariana Moorer (172-91, college: Virginia) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and American-Bahrain power forward Brittany Lewis (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Four Sporting players scored in double figures. Esperides have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 7-2 record having just two points less than leader Olympiacos. Newly promoted Sporting keeps the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Eleutheria M.. Esperides are looking forward to face Kalyvion (#4) in Kalyvia in the next round. Sporting will play at home against the league's leader Olympiacos (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
