An interesting game took place in Lille where 9th ranked Aix-Maurienne (6-8) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Lille Metropole (7-7) 80-67 on Tuesday. Lille Metropole outrebounded Aix-Maurienne 34-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. American forward Rakeem Buckles (201-90, college: FIU) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Maurice Acker (172-87, college: Marquette) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Four Lille Metropole players scored in double figures. Center Thomas Hieu-Courtois (200-95) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Canadian-Jamaican point guard Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson (178-91, college: Calgary) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Lille Metropole moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Aix-Maurienne lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Lille Metropole will face higher ranked Saint Chamond (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aix-Maurienne will play against Quimper UJAP (#16) and hope to win that game.
