Regular Season Round 31: Sendai 89ers - Gunma 61-83

The game between Top Four teams took place in Sendai. 3rd placed host Sendai 89ers (21-10) were smashed by first ranked Gunma (23-8) 83-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. Gunma made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game, while Sendai 89ers only scored four points from the stripe. Gunma looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) helped adding 21 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) responded with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks and the other American import forward Tyler Harris (208-93, college: Auburn) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the twelfth consecutive win for Gunma. They maintain first place with 23-8 record, which they share with Hiroshima D. Loser Sendai 89ers dropped to the second position with ten games lost. Gunma will face league's second-placed Kumamoto V. at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sendai 89ers will play against the league's second-placed Toyotsu FE in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
