Regular Season Round 32: Kawasaki BT - Toyama Grouses 87-67

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kanagawa. Second ranked Toshiba Thunders faced one of their biggest challengers Toyama Grouses. Host Toshiba Thunders (20-12) smashed guests from Toyama (18-14) 87-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toyama Grouses. Toshiba Thunders shot 60.3 percent from the field. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Toyama Grouses' players. The winners were led by international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and international point guard Ryusei Shinoyama (178-88) supported him with 14 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds by American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) did not help to save the game for Toyama Grouses. His fellow American import forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Five Toshiba Thunders and four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 20-12 record having seven points less than leader Ryukyu GK which they share with defeated Toyama Grouses. Toyama Grouses at the other side dropped to the second place with 14 games lost.
