Regular Season Round 14: GOCOR-Sozh - RCOP Tsmoki 96-99

Bottom-ranked RCOP Tsmoki managed to get a second victory, breaking the ten-game losing streak. This time they edged eighth-ranked GOCOR-Sozh in Gomel 99-96. It looked good early as GOCOR-Sozh took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then RCOP Tsmoki took control winning two of next three quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 3 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to GOCOR-Sozh's 44. RCOP Tsmoki players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. GOCOR-Sozh was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Raman Gest (197-1) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Aleksey Tsynkevich (203-1) contributed with 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four RCOP Tsmoki players scored in double figures. RCOP Tsmoki's coach Aleksandr Poderachev allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Timofey Verevkin (185-93) replied with 38 points (!!!) and 7 assists and guard Denis Yarets (188-89) added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for GOCOR-Sozh. RCOP Tsmoki (2-13) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Prinemanye. GOCOR-Sozh lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. RCOP Tsmoki will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. GOCOR-Sozh will play on the road against Brest (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
