Regular Season Round 14: Promitheas - Kolossos HH 101-95
Date: January 19, 2019
Very expected game when 12th ranked Kolossos HH (2-11) lost to sixth ranked Promitheas (9-5) in Patras 95-101 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 35-25. But Kolossos HH won second period 27-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Promitheas made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Kolossos HH was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. Point guard Langston Hall (193-91, college: Mercer, agency: Octagon Europe) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 assists. Rion Brown (198-91, college: Miami, FL) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Promitheas' coach Makis Giatras used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Quincy Diggs (198-90, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) replied with 18 points and 6 rebounds and guard Stevie Browning (190-93, college: Marshall) added 20 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) in the effort for Kolossos HH. Five Promitheas and four Kolossos HH players scored in double figures. Promitheas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with PAOK. Kolossos HH lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Promitheas will face higher ranked Peristeri GS (#4) in Athens in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kolossos HH will play at home against Holargos (#7) and hope to win that game.
