Seventh-ranked Botafogo F.R. (6-9) gave a tough game to third ranked Vivo/Franca (13-2) in Rio de Janeiro. The visitors from Sao Paulo managed to secure only two-point victory 71-69. However their fans expected much easier game. International forward Lucas Silva (209-95) nailed 28 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) accounted for 17 points. Forward Arthur Bernardi (206-90, college: Houston Baptist) came up with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and center Ralfi Ansaloni (211-87) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Botafogo F.R. in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Vivo/Franca. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Botafogo F.R. lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh place with nine games lost. Vivo/Franca will play against bottom-ranked Brasilia (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Botafogo F.R. will play against the league's second-placed Pinheiros (#2) in Sao Paulo and hopes to get back on the winning track.
