The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked GOCOR-Sozh's (2-13) road loss to seventh ranked Brest (6-10) 68-101 on Saturday. The game without a history. Brest led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to GOCOR-Sozh's 42. Brest forced 24 GOCOR-Sozh turnovers and outrebounded them 52-32 including 20 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by GOCOR-Sozh's players. It was a good game for guard Anton Shchurko (188-97) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Power forward Kirill Vinokurov (207-99) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Brest players scored in double figures. Brest's coach Alexandr Fedorchyk felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Timofey Verevkin (185-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Daniil Adaskov (193-96) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for GOCOR-Sozh. Brest maintains seventh place with 6-10 record. GOCOR-Sozh lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Prinemanye and RCOP Tsmoki. Brest are looking forward to face higher ranked Rubon (#5) in Vitebsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GOCOR-Sozh will play at home against Impuls BGUIR and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
