Regular Season Round 15: JX-Eneos S. - Fujitsu RW 64-86

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of JX-Eneos S. (14-1) in Kashiwa on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by third ranked Fujitsu RW (11-4) 86-64. It ended at the same time the 14-game winning streak of JX-Eneos S.. Fujitsu RW made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Fujitsu RW looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for international point guard Rui Machida (162-93) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International point guard Mio Shinozaki (167-91) helped adding 8 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Fujitsu RW players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international power forward Kadysha Umezawa (183-98) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Saki Hayashi (172-95) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fujitsu RW have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain third place with 11-4 record having just three points less than leader JX-Eneos S., which they share with Mitsubishi K. Defending champion JX-Eneos S. still keeps top position with one game lost. Fujitsu RW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. JX-Eneos S. will play again on the road against Fujitsu RW in Kawasaki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
