Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Faenza (12-4) outleveled on the road 10th ranked Cagliari CUS (6-9) 68-45 on Saturday. Faenza forced 20 Cagliari CUS turnovers and outrebounded them 45-23 including a 34-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Simona Ballardini (181-81) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Licia Schwienbacher (170-95) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Erika Striulli (170-90) produced 10 points, 6 assists and 5 steals and the former international forward Silvia Favento (185-85) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Faenza maintains fourth position in A2 with 12-4 record. Loser Cagliari CUS keeps the tenth place with nine games lost. Faenza will face Forli (#16) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Cagliari CUS will play against Umbertide (#6) and hope to win that game.
