Seventh-ranked Holargos (7-7) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Olympiacos (13-1) on Sunday. The visitors from Pireus managed to secure only five-point victory 73-68. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 20-14 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 5-point victory in overtime. Olympiacos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Holargos' players. Serbian center Nikola Milutinov (212-94, agency: Octagon Europe) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds. Cypriot-Bulgarian Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-95) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. American guard Javontae Hawkins (196-93, college: Fordham, agency: Higher Vision Sports) replied with 15 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Gary Talton (185-90, college: Ill.-Chicago) added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Holargos. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Olympiacos have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-1 record having just one point less than leader Panathinaikos. Newly promoted Holargos keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. Olympiacos will face Kymis (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Holargos will play against Kolossos HH (#13) in Rodou and hope to win that game.
