Regular Season Round 17: Padova - Faenza 70-60

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when second-ranked Faenza (12-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked Padova (11-6) 70-60 on Sunday. Padova outrebounded Faenza 43-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was swingman Michele Ferrari (195-86) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). The former international point guard Francesco De-Nicolao (185-93) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Padova's coach Daniele Rubini used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Carlo Fumagalli (188-96) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Mattia Venucci (188-90) added 10 points respectively for the guests. Padova maintains third place in B with 11-6 record having four points less than leader Deco Caserta, which they share with Orzinuovi. Faenza lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with five games lost. Padova will face Ozzano (#11) in Ozzano dell Emilia in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Faenza will play at home against Reggio Emilia (#12) and hope to win that game.
