Fifth-ranked Mardin BSB (13-7) was very close to win a game against first ranked Cankaya (17-1) in Ankara on Tuesday. Cankaya managed to secure only three-point victory 69-66. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Mardin BSB. Cankaya forced 23 Mardin BSB turnovers. It was a good game for American center Sasha Goodlett (195-90, college: Georgia Tech) who led her team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Center Derin Yaya (174-97, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) contributed with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Nazli Guler (184-82, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Mardin BSB. Cankaya have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-1 record. Newly promoted Mardin BSB keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Cankaya are looking forward to face Edremit (#11) in Balikesir in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mardin BSB will play at home against Bursa BSB (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
