Regular Season Round 11: Al Shamal - Al Arabi 79-76

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Al Shamal as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al Shamal edged 4th placed Al Arabi in Doha 79-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Arabi. Algerian forward Mohamed Harath (198-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 22 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Aaron Mitchell (188-89, college: Longwood) contributed with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Khalid Abdi (198-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Senegalese center Oumar Seck (208-88) added 21 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Al Arabi. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Qatar Club. Defending champion Al Arabi keeps the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Al Wakrah. Al Arabi will play next round against Al Rayyan trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena of Al Rayyan. Al Shamal will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Qatar Sports Club. It will be extra interesting game as Qatar Sports Club is their local rival from Doha.
