Regular Season Round 24: Kauhajoki - Kouvot 82-79

The most exciting game of round 24 in the Korisliiga took place in Kauhajoki. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Kouvot (10-11) to fourth ranked Kauhajoki (13-8) 82-79 on Wednesday evening. Kauhajoki outrebounded Kouvot 39-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Cameron Jones (193-89, college: N.Arizona) who added 19 points and 6 assists during the contest. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was the former international Ville Kaunisto (204-82, agency: Court Side) with 13 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Tuomas Hirvonen (181-96) scored 15 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kauhajoki have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Pyrinto. Kouvot at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Kauhajoki is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Ura Basket (#11) in Kaarina in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kouvot will play at home against BC Nokia (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
