La Liga top team - San Lorenzo (11-0) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed fifteenth ranked Penarol (5-6) in Mar del Plata 104-55. San Lorenzo dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Penarol's 32. They outrebounded Penarol 55-26 including a 40-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Lorenzo looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Penarol's players. Uruguayan power forward Mathias Calfani (204-92, agency: Pro Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. International Maximo Fjellerup (198-97) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five San Lorenzo players scored in double figures. Forward Nicolas Lauria (202-88) answered with 12 points and Lucas Arn (197-89) added 7 points in the effort for Penarol. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. San Lorenzo have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-0 record. Penarol at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. They share it with Hispano Am.. San Lorenzo are looking forward to face Obras Basket (#6) in Buenos Aires in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Penarol will play on the road against Argentino (#19) in Junin and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
