Regular Season Round 15: KR - Valur 96-89

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Reykjavik: KR (#5) and Valur (#10). KR (10-5) won against visiting Valur (4-11) 96-89. Valur was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. KR looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Valur's players. It was a great evening for international guard Jon Stefansson (192-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Julian Boyd (201-90, college: LIU Brooklyn) helped adding 19 points and 11 rebounds. Four KR players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Dominique Rambo (183-91, college: SAGU) with 42 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Bulgarian forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Valur lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. KR will face league's second-placed Tindastoll in Sauoarkrokur in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valur will play at home against Grindavik (#7) and hope to win that game.
