There was a surprise result when sixth ranked FSU (7-7) edged second-ranked Hottur (9-4) in Selfoss 77-75 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 12 points after three quarters before their 30-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. FSU outrebounded Hottur 42-28 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Marvin Smith (198, college: USC Upstate) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Snjolfur Stefansson (192-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Charles Clark (188-96, college: Carson-Newman) replied with 28 points and American-German forward Andre Hughes (203-94, college: E.New Mexico) added 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Hottur. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. FSU have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 7-7 record. Loser Hottur dropped to the third place with four games lost. FSU will face higher ranked Hamar (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hottur will play against Sindri and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the Dominos League just one year after relegation.
