Regular Season Round 34: Akita NH - Yokohama BC 67-65

Sixth-ranked Yokohama BC (8-26) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Akita Happinets (13-21) on Saturday. Akita Happinets managed to secure only two-point victory 67-65. However their fans expected easier game. Strangely Yokohama BC outrebounded Akita Happinets 44-27 including 18 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Akita Happinets made 8 blocks. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St.) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 8 blocks. Coleby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Masashi Hosoya (173-89) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Alex Stepheson (208-87, college: USC) added 12 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Akita Happinets maintains fifth position with 13-21 record. Yokohama BC lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 26 games lost. Akita Happinets will again meet at home Yokohama BC (#6) in the next round. Yokohama BC will have a break next round.
