Very expected game when 7th ranked Nova Ves (8-14) were crushed on the road by second ranked Levice (16-7) 95-76 on Saturday. Levice dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Nova Ves' 40. Levice forced 20 Nova Ves turnovers and outrebounded them 41-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. American forward Steven Davis (203-93, college: Wright St.) fired 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Dwayne Benjamin (201-93, college: Oregon) chipped in 16 points. Levice's coach Teo Hojc used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Viktor Juricek (211-93, college: Texas A&M-CC) produced 22 points and American guard Gabriel Belardo (188-89, college: FIU) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second place with 16-7 record having just one point less than leader Inter Bratislava. Loser Nova Ves keep the seventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Handlova. Levice will meet Zilina (#5) on the road in the next round. Nova Ves will play against the league's leader Inter Bratislava and hope to secure a win.
