Regular Season Round 34: Nagoya DD - San-en 86-105

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Diamond Dolphins (19-15) against fifth ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (14-20) on Saturday night. Host Diamond Dolphins were crushed by San-en NeoPhoenix in Nagoya 105-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Diamond Dolphins. San-en NeoPhoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Diamond Dolphins' 44. They outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 41-25 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for San-en NeoPhoenix especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Shinnosuke Ohishi (174-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. American center William McDonald (211-79, college: S.Florida) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American Markeith Cummings (198-88, college: Kennesaw St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Diamond Dolphins. Five San-en NeoPhoenix and four Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San-en NeoPhoenix moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Diamond Dolphins at the other side keep the second position with 15 games lost. San-en NeoPhoenix will have a break next round. Diamond Dolphins will play again at home against San-en NeoPhoenix and hope to win that game.
