Rather predictable result in Athens where eighth ranked Ifestos (8-7) defeated 12th ranked Panionios (3-12) 93-76 on Saturday. Panionios was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for point guard Jerry Smith (189-87, college: Louisville, agency: HMS) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Sean Evans (203-88, college: St.John's) helped adding 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Ifestos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Davion Berry (193-91, college: Weber St.) with 32 points and 6 assists and forward Demetric Austin (201, college: Dillard) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Panionios' coach Vasilis Fragias rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Ifestos moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Holargos. Panionios lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Ifestos will face league's second-placed Olympiacos in Pireus in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panionios will play on the road against Aris (#9) in Thessaloniki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
