Regular Season Round 34: Niigata Albirex - Fukuoka Rizing 87-85

Fifth-ranked Fukuoka Rizing (9-25) gave a tough game to first ranked Niigata Albirex (24-10) on Saturday. Niigata Albirex managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Niigata Albirex made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) responded with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and British forward Benjamin Lawson (216-95, college: W.Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 24-10 record, which they share with Ryukyu GK. Newly promoted Fukuoka Rizing keeps the fifth place with 25 games lost. Niigata Albirex is again looking forward to face Fukuoka Rizing (#5) at home in the next round. Fukuoka Rizing will have a break next round.
