Regular Season Round 34: Toyama Grouses - Chiba Jets 82-89

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Chiba Jets (29-5) beat on the road 3rd ranked Toyama Grouses (18-16) 89-82 on Saturday. Chiba Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) scored 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) chipped in 14 points and 8 assists during the contest. Chiba Jets' coach Atsushi Ono used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Chiba Jets have an impressive 17-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 29-5 record. Toyama Grouses lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with 16 games lost. Chiba Jets will have a break next round. Toyama Grouses will play again at home against the league's leader Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
