Regular Season Round 18: Viola RC - Battipaglia 119-63

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Battipaglia (0-18) was outleveled by fifth ranked Viola RC (13-5) in Reggio Calabria 119-63 on Sunday. Viola RC dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Battipaglia's 30. They outrebounded Battipaglia 39-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. Viola RC looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Battipaglia's players. It was a good game for naturalized Senegalese power forward Yande Fall (203-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Tommaso Carnovali (197-93) contributed with 22 points and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Alessio Ronconi (192-95) replied with 22 points and point guard Diego Martino (167-93) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Battipaglia. Five Viola RC and four Battipaglia players scored in double figures. Viola RC moved-up to second place in B, which they share with Faenza. Loser Battipaglia still closes the standings with 18 games lost. Viola RC will face Pozzuoli (#14) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Battipaglia will play against Cuore Napoli and hopes to get finally their first victory.
