Regular Season Round 15: GDKO Bizkaia - Mataro Parc 77-56

There was no surprise in Galdakao where 9th ranked Mataro Parc (6-9) was outplayed by sixth ranked GDKO Bizkaia (8-7) 77-56 on Sunday. GDKO Bizkaia outrebounded Mataro Parc 41-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Mataro Parc's players. It was a great evening for Greek-Nigerian forward Jessica Ogunnorin (185-92, college: VCU) who led her team to a victory scoring 8 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Araia Pena (172-90) helped adding 14 points. Four GDKO Bizkaia players scored in double figures. Coach Jose Maria Alcantara's team had such big advantage and giving the chance to play for all 12 players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was center Olga Ruano (191-88) with 18 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Itziar Llobet (181-93, college: Kent St.) scored 15 points. GDKO Bizkaia maintains sixth place in Group A with 8-7 record. Mataro Parc lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. GDKO Bizkaia will face league's leader Real Celta Vigo on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mataro Parc will play against Aros Patatas (#3) and hope to win that game.
