There was an upset when second-best Piombino (13-5) was outleveled by thirteenth ranked Omnia Basket (8-10) in Pavia 86-63 on Sunday. Omnia Basket outrebounded Piombino 37-25 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for power forward Alessandro Spatti (204-95, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Giulio Mascherpa (185-92, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Five Omnia Basket players scored in double figures. Guard Alessio Iardella (186-88, agency: Players Group) replied with 13 points and Francesco Fratto (200-91) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Piombino. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Omnia Basket moved-up to eleventh place in B. Loser Piombino keeps the second position with five games lost. Omnia Basket will face higher ranked Varese Robur (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
