Regular Season Round 15: 36ers - United 91-114
Date: January 28, 2019
Rather expected game in Findon where 5th ranked Adelaide 36ers (12-12) were rolled over by third ranked United (14-8) 114-91 on Monday. United made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Adelaide 36ers' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when United made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Josh Boone (208-84, college: Connecticut) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import forward DJ Kennedy (198-89, college: St.John's) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Five United players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international guard Nathan Sobey (190-90, college: Wyoming) who recorded 24 points and the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Loser Adelaide 36ers keep the fifth position with 12 games lost. United will face New Zealand Breakers (#7) in Auckland in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Adelaide 36ers will play on the road against Cairns Taipans and hope to win that game.
