Regular Season Round 26: Korihait - Kouvot 84-87
Date: January 30, 2019
Tenth-ranked UU-Korihait (6-18) used its home court advantage to challenge seventh ranked Kouvot (11-12) in Uusikaupunki on Wednesday. The visitors from Kouvola managed to secure only three-point victory 87-84. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-84. American guard Jeremy Morgan (196-95, college: N.Iowa) notched 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Ville Kaunisto (204-82, agency: Court Side) supported him with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 17 rebounds by American forward Brandon Conley (201-93, college: ORU) did not help to save the game for UU-Korihait. His fellow American import forward Bryan Coleman (198-92, college: Wayne St., MI) added 19 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Five Kouvot and four UU-Korihait players scored in double figures. Kouvot moved-up to sixth place. Loser UU-Korihait keeps the tenth position with 18 games lost. Kouvot will meet at home higher ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. UU-Korihait will play against the league's leader Vilpas (#1) and hope to secure a win.
