An interesting game was also home defeat of 3rd ranked Olimpia Matera in a game versus Salerno (#2) 92-80. It was a key game for the second position in B. Salerno shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Roberto Maggio (183-90) who led the winners and scored 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Forward Lorenzo Tortu (200-92) accounted for 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Power forward Giacomo Sereni (200-84) came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds and center Andrea Iannilli (207-84) added 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Olimpia Matera in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Salerno maintains second place in B with 15-4 record having just two points less than leader Deco Caserta. Loser Olimpia Matera dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Salerno will meet at home Palestrina (#5) in the next round. Olimpia Matera will play against Catania Alfa and hope to secure a win.
