Seventh-ranked Haukar (5-13) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Keflavik (14-4) in Hafnarfjordur on Wednesday. The visitors from Keflavik managed to secure only two-point victory 76-74. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 2 points. Keflavik looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for American guard Brittanny Dinkins (170-94, college: S.Mississippi) who led her team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists. The former international forward Bryndis Gudmundsdottir (178-88) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) replied with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals and international point guard Thora Jonsdottir (171-97) added 8 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Haukar. Keflavik have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-4 record. Defending champion Haukar keeps the seventh place with 13 games lost. Keflavik are looking forward to face Valur (#3) in Reykjavik in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Haukar will play on the road against Stjarnan (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
