We should mention about the upset which took place in Reykjavik, where 7th ranked Grindavik (7-9) lost to tenth ranked Valur (5-11) in a road game 96-100 on Thursday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Grindavik won fourth quarter 34-32. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valur made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Valur had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Valur looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Grindavik's players. American point guard Dominique Rambo (183-91, college: SAGU) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 assists for the winners. The former international center Ragnar Nathanaelsson (218-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. The former international point guard Sigtryggur-Arnar Bjornsson (180-93, college: St.Mary's) produced 25 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Olafur Olafsson (194-90) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Grindavik's coach Johann Olafsson tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Valur maintains tenth position with 5-11 record. Grindavik lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with nine games lost. Valur will face higher ranked Stjarnan (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
