Regular Season Round 12: Sykki - Rocks 81-104

Leader Rocks delivered the twelfth victory on Thursday night. This time they crushed 10th ranked Sykki (2-11) 104-81 in Helsinki. They outrebounded Sykki 51-36 including 19 on the offensive glass. Rocks looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Sykki's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of forward Alvar Michelsen (197-0) who helped to win the game recording 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Bashkim Grepi (185-0) who added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Rocks players scored in double figures. Rocks' coach Eero Nikkarinen felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was point guard Anton Suomalainen (180-2) with 24 points and guard Kalle Koponen (191-2) scored 6 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Rocks have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-1 record. Sykki lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Lahti. Rocks will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sykki will play against Pyrinto (#4) in Tampere and hope to secure a win.
